Reach Out
Every Year we donate a portion of our proceeds to the National Suicide Hotline. Why?
In todays culture there is a stream of acceptance. But as we know this stream does not reach everywhere. There are still many people influenced by the equally large stream of hatred. Hate from others. Hatred from ourselves. Wishing we were different. Unable to find ourselves in the vast amount of self generated defense mechanisms and made up personality traits. Fear. Bullying. You Are Not Alone. There are many people out there suffering just like you. It is very common. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US. Approximately 129 Americans Everyday. That's about 47,000 people every year in the US alone. LGBTQIA+ people are 4x more likely than other people to attempt suicide. 41% of trans people have attempted suicide in their lifetime. Each time an LGBTQIA+ person is a victim of physical or verbal harassment or abuse, they become 2.5x more likely to hurt themselves. And Over 80% of LGBTQIA+ youth have been assaulted or threatened. Only 50% of those people seek help. But there is no strength in silence. As LGBTQIA+ people we have had to fight. Fight for rights. Fight for acceptance. Fight for each other. Fight for happiness. I know that it is an uphill battle, but FIGHT for yourself. The Strongest thing you can do is Reach out, Seek Help. Scream if you have to, because keeping it hidden will only give those thoughts time to grow stronger. Put it out in the open and watch them wither away. If you have suicidal thoughts, if they weigh on you heavily. Seek professional help, they know what their doing. If you dont feel comfortable with that, pass some of that weight to your brothers and sisters. We are here for you. There is a-lot of Passion and Compassion within our community. And a-lot of us know the feelings well, and can help you through it. And speaking about your own struggles may show someone else that they are not alone and could help them. There is Strength in Numbers.
